How the date calculator works
Days between dates counts the exact number of days from the start date to the end date, including any leap days. By default the end date is not counted (1 January to 2 January is 1 day). Switch on "include the end date" when both days count — leave applications, hotel nights, notice periods and rental days usually work that way. The years-months-days line uses real calendar months, the same method as our age calculator.
Add or subtract moves a date forward or back by years, months, weeks and days. Years and months are added first, calendar-style (31 January plus one month is the last day of February), then weeks and days are added exactly. The result shows the weekday, which is handy for deadlines that must fall on a working day.

Frequently asked questions
Does the date calculator include the end date?
Not by default. "From 01-01 to 02-01" returns 1 day. Choose "include the end date" to count both days, which gives 2 — the convention for leave days, hotel nights and rental periods.
How are leap years handled?
Exactly. Total days are counted from the real calendar, so 29 February is included whenever it falls inside the range.
What does "weekdays" count?
Every Monday to Friday in the range. Public holidays and weekends are not deducted because they differ by country and state.
Why is 31 January plus one month 28 February?
Months have different lengths, so the calculator keeps the same day of the month where it exists and otherwise uses the last day of the target month — the usual rule for contracts and billing.
Can I subtract dates to get years, months and days?
Yes. The "Days between dates" mode shows the exact total days plus the equivalent years, months and days, weeks, hours and minutes.
